The killing of an elderly woman in Couva has prompted a call by the area’s regional corporation for enhanced security measures.
Lisas Gardens resident, 68-year-old Amina Mohammed, was killed by intruders who also tied up her husband, before taking valuables and fleeing the scene.
In a media release, Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation Chairman Ryan Rampersad said the incident highlights growing concerns over safety in the municipality.
Among his calls for better security measures for the region, Mr Rampersad insisted that the Brasso and San Rafael Police Stations be reopened.
He believes this would improve police coverage and response times.
