Union calls for intervention regarding Mora Valley Farm workers

The Agriculture Ministry and Chief Personnel Officer are being urged to address issues with workers of the Mora Valley Farm.

The All Trinidad General Workers’ Trade Union claims the employees have not received benefits, including backpay and gratuity, for the periods 2014-16 and 2017-19.

It adds that collective agreements for these periods were signed on December 13th, 2023.

Union President Nirvan Maharaj says the union was told by the Ministry in May this year that it would be moving towards implementing the agreements in the fullest.

However, he claims, the workers are still waiting on the benefits which he says they are legally due.

103.1FM News has reached out to the Agriculture Ministry for a statement.
