Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management Unit for ODPM

A note has been taken to the Cabinet for the establishment of a Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management Unit within the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management.

This note was taken by National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, who says Cabinet had also agreed to the start of a National Disaster and Climate Risks Assessment.

According to the Minister, this is a critical study to improve the nation’s resilience and by extension, its sustainable development.

The revelations from Mr Hinds follow recent Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency’s 13th Comprehensive Disaster Management Conference.

Held between December 2nd and 6th, this was attended by over 450 global and regional leaders, who discussed ways to strengthen disaster risk reduction and management, climate resilience, and adaptive capacity in the Caribbean region.
