UNC San’do West candidate highlights constituency’s issues

UNC’s election candidate for San Fernando West has pledged to work with constituents to address a number of challenges.

Dr Michael Dowlath spoke last night at a UNC Cottage Meeting in Las Lomas where he noted that the constituency is plagued by traffic and parking, healthcare issues, crime and public health concerns including vagrancy.

He also referred to the closure of the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery which he says affected number of small businesses and shocked the economic hub that was San Fernando West.

Nationally, Dr Dowlath said the UNC has plans for education, including integrating computer science and technology into the curriculum, and training teachers in modern techniques.

The former Naparima College principal also noted an intention to revamp community policing which he says can provide a proactive disciplinary support to educators.

Dr Dowlath then spoke about the assigning of medical doctors to schools to help diagnose students with special needs.
