Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally believes the Prime Minister’s decision to accept a report of the Salaries Review Commission cannot go unchallenged.

The report recommends, among other things, pay raises for the Prime Minister, President and Opposition Leader.

MP Rambally believes the salary increases cannot be justified while families are facing rising food prices, joblessness, declining public services and rising crime.

He is calling on the labour movement, civil society and all relevant stakeholders to make their feelings publicly known, and demand fairness from government.

He adds that those in power have a responsibility to put the people first.
