There have been no concrete strategies to combat crime across the Chaguanas East constituency according to the area’s MP.

Ms Vandana Mohit made this statement following the kidnapping of businessman Shastri Anand Persad in Lendore Village yesterday.

The man was standing in front of his house when gunmen confronted him, bundled him into a car and sped off.

MP Mohit says she has been making repeated calls for government to take proactive steps towards curbing crime in the constituency, but to no avail.
