The body found in the Caroni River this morning is that of a woman.

Her identity however remains undetermined at this time.

According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Vallence Rambharat, the decomposed corpse was discovered around 7am, about two kilometres west of the highway bridge.

The body was determined to be female during the retrieval process.

This is the second body found in the river this week.

On Tuesday, the body of Damian Nurse was also found floating in the water.
