Effective today, there are amendments to the Demerit Points System.

Since the system was implemented in May 2020, the Works & Transport Ministry has monitored its operation and assessed its impact on driver behaviours and compliance with road safety laws.

Based on feedback, it says a comprehensive review was conducted to address concerns regarding the demerit points and fixed penalties assigned to various traffic violations.

The amendments include lower fixed penalties and demerit points for certain traffic violations.

Fixed penalties have also been implemented with regard to violations relating to disability parking permits.
