A 35-year-old male suspect is in police custody following the shooting death of PC Krishna Banahar.
The policeman was fatally wounded when assailants opened fire on him and his colleague at St Rose Street in Guapo yesterday.
Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher said the incident reinforces the threat police officers face every day.
She noted that officers like PC Banahar are giving their all to protect and serve but need the public’s cooperation to rid society of the perpetrators of violent crimes.
The Commissioner said citizens cannot continue to protect people suspected to be involved in crime, instead calling for persons to expose the criminals.
