Republican Donald Trump has claimed victory in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
According to Reuters, this came after Fox News projected that he had defeated Democrat Kamala Harris.
He appeared early on Wednesday in front of supporters at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, alongside by his vice-presidential running mate, Senator JD Vance, Republican leaders and members of Trump’s family.
Harris’ camp did not speak, other than to say that there are votes still to be counted and that Harris would speak later today.
As of 6:37am T&T time, Trump had gone past the 270 electoral votes needed for victory, according to reporting by Al Jazeera, AP News, BBC News and Reuters.
Across 50 states, plus Washington DC, there are 538 votes up for grabs and the winner is the candidate that gets 270 or more.
