A 56-year-old Maraval man appeared in court today charged with the murder of 43-year-old Wendy Safe.

The victim’s body was found 14 years ago on March 3rd 2010, on Upper Duke Street in Port of Spain.

There were multiple marks of violence.

Cold Case Specialist Mr Kirk Griffith produced an extensive report with recommendations and following meticulous enquiries, a meeting was held with Deputy DPP Joan Honore-Paul on October 22nd 2024.

She advised that Michael Ashby be charged with murder.

He appeared virtually before Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami who ordered that he be remanded into custody.
