Heritage Petroleum says it has decided to restrict access to an “authorized bridge” at Edward Trace, Moruga.
The company says the “makeshift” structure is in the immediate vicinity of an active 10-inch crude oil and condensate pipeline.
It notes that this pipeline is critical to its operations and to other operators from the east coast and, as such, there are concerns about the possible impacts of the bridge.
Heritage claims that efforts to alert stakeholders to its concerns, which also include the risk posed by the bridge to its users, have gone unheeded.
It says this led the company to take the decision to restrict access to the bridge, but it notes that it is open to continued dialogue on the matter.
