Someone has crashed into the height barrier at the Perseverance/Factory Road Bridge for a third time.

This was confirmed to 103.1FM News by Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed who says this usually results in traffic congestion along the roadway.

The barrier was installed following repair works to the bridge as the Works Ministry said ancillary works still had to be completed.

However, the Mayor insisted this should not have been necessary in the first place.

He told 103.1FM News, “Typically, when repairs or reconstruction are done, one would expect the structure to be made stronger and more durable, ensuring it lasts longer. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. Instead, it appears the bridge was merely patched up and propped up, leading to these restrictions we now see in place.”

The Mayor also provided photos of the traffic situation as at around 8am.
