Cunupia businesspeople demand more from police after kidnapping

Business owners in Cunupia have expressed concern and fear after the kidnapping of Suvesh Ramnarine.

Ramnarine, described as a hard-working businessman, was taken in a black SUV with blue lights by men with the word POLICE written on their jerseys on October 12th in Warrenville.

According to the T&T Newsday, businesspeople in the area are demanding increased police presence and faster response times.

Furthermore, Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Baldath Maharaj has been quoted by Guardian Media as raising concerns about the use of police uniforms and blue lights.

He added that businesspeople have been calling him to find out about migration options and he warned that the atmosphere of fear can deter both local investment and broader economic activity.
