The South West Regional Health Authority says it is investigating a recent electrical systems failure at the San Fernando General Hospital.

In a statement it says the incident resulted in a negative impact on Laboratory supplies and blood related services at the San Fernando General Hospital on Wednesday night.

The statement says there was no disruption to services.

It adds that the investigation is aimed at unearthing the circumstances in which its standard internal contingency processes were not activated.

It expects the investigative report to be completed within 21 days.
