The Pierre Road Ramleela Committee intends to make amends following recent public criticisms.

Following a display on Monday night at the Pierre Road Recreation Ground, several persons took to social media to condemn the show’s narration.

Some also took issue with a female character being played by a male actor dressed in a sari.

103.1FM News spoke with President of the Pierre Road Ramleela Committee, Khemchand Sahadeo, who says the narrator in question is experienced, having been involved in the event for the past two decades.

He says the aim was to engage and entertain attendees, however given the commentary, an apology will be issued tonight.

He adds that the feedback will be taken into consideration, with the Committee determined to move forward and deliver the best show possible for the remainder of the nights.

As for a male actor portraying a female character, Mr Sahadeo says the role of the demon Surpanakha is one that female actors usually do not want to portray.
