The HDC says there is no secrecy in the sale of Federation Park villas.

It notes a statement in Parliament by UNC MP Dr Roodal Moonilal who it says accused the HDC of being involved in an underhanded method of selling the units for much less than its market value.

The HDC says its process to sell started with valuations by an independent valuator and, in 2022 and 2023, ads were placed in the newspapers for purchase of the units at $3 million.

Bids were received at $3 million and as low as $900,000, but the HDC notes only persons bidding at $3 million were accepted, with one bid since paid off and two others having made deposits.
