The suicide of a St Stephen’s College student should be a wakeup call in addressing the issue of bullying, according to an MP.

Speaking in Parliament today, Mayaro MP Rushton Paray expressed condolences to the family of Jayden Lalchan whose death allegedly followed instances of bullying.

Over the weekend, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar called for justice to be served if the allegations of bullying against Jayden are proven to be true.

According to the Trinidad Express, police have recorded statements from a number of people, including parents, teachers and witnesses and a file will be handed over to the DPP to decide the way forward.
