Over $4 million worth of marijuana has been seized in Central Trinidad.
The TTPS says the bust was made after exhaustive investigations, and precise surveillance, which allowed officers to zero in on a specific target, alleged to be a “stasher”.
Between 2pm and 5pm yesterday, during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Temple Street, Bank Village, Carapichaima, officers found a padlocked wardrobe.
Inside were two black garbage bags containing:
- 11 packets of Colombian Creepy Marijuana, weighing 12.3 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $1,349,888.
- 13 packets of Imported Yellow/Lemon Kush Marijuana, weighing 6.99 kilograms, valued at $1,046,158.
- 6 packets of powdered cocaine, weighing 1.12 kilograms, with a street value of $1,672,704.
- 1 packet of crack cocaine, weighing 67 grams, with an estimated value of $31,131.
The estimated value of the narcotics seized was $4,099,881.23.
The operation, led by a specialized team consisting of officers from the intelligence unit, with operational support from Snr Supt. Northern Division-North, Sherma Maynard-Wilson, ASP Pitt, Sgt. Metivier, Cpl Foster and officers from the Northern Division North Task Force-South, Northern Division North Task Force-North, and the Canine Unit.
Police Commissioner Erla Harewood Christopher said, “This operation is a testament to the strength and effectiveness of the TTPS’s intelligence-gathering and investigative capabilities, resulting in the seizure of these dangerous drugs before they could hit the streets and wreak havoc on our communities.”
