NHC monitoring systems in Caribbean Sea/Gulf of Mexico & Atlantic

1) A tropical depression or storm is likely to form soon off the coast of Central America.

The National Hurricane Centre says showers and thunderstorms are gradually becoming better organized in association with a broad area of low pressure located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea.

It adds that a depression or storm is possible in the next day or two as the system moves across the northwestern Caribbean Sea into the Gulf of Mexico, where additional development is expected.

Regardless of development, this system is expected to produce heavy rains over portions of Central America during the next several days.

2) Meanwhile the NHC is continuing to monitor a tropical wave located between western Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands.

This wave is producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity, with environmental conditions generally favorable for gradual development.

As such, a tropical depression is likely to form during the middle to latter part of this week.
