Police say they are monitoring financial institutions as bandits are targeting individuals withdrawing money to pay property tax.

Edmund Cumberbatch of the Southwestern Division made the statement while speaking at a TTPS media briefing in San Fernando yesterday.

He says teams have been deployed and have stepped up patrols, focusing on banking and other money-lending agencies and their environs, ahead of the deadline for paying the tax on September 30th.

Recently, government revealed that an online taxpaying option was being developed but gave no indication as to when it would be available.
