T&T has received two containerised clinics from the United States Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Nicknamed “Clinics in a Can” the units will be housed at the Port of Spain General Hospital under the supervision of the North West Regional Health Authority.

The Health Ministry says one is a Premium Primary Care Clinic and the other is an Emergency/Trauma Unit.

Both, it adds, will significantly boost local healthcare capacity.

The Premium Primary Care Clinic is a 20-foot unit, fully outfitted with exam room equipment, ensuring it is capable of delivering comprehensive outpatient services.

This clinic is designed to address the needs of primary healthcare, offering a variety of diagnostic and treatment options for everyday medical issues.

The 20-foot Emergency/Trauma Unit is specifically equipped to handle urgent and life-threatening cases.

It will be essential in delivering timely medical interventions for trauma and emergency care.

Both units have the option to be powered by solar energy, adding an element of sustainability and operational independence in times of crisis or natural disasters.
