While hopeful for a smooth start to the new academic year on Monday, an MP believes there are unresolved issues to be addressed.
In a media release, Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes-Alleyne says the Education Ministry’s attention is required on school infrastructure repairs, student transportation services and policy provisions.
She also believes there is a need to treat with declining student performance, saying too many students are unable to attain passing grades.
Furthermore, MP Haynes-Alleyne says she is monitoring the Ministry’s response to industrial relations issues.
As recently as yesterday, TTUTA members staged a demonstration where they said their insurance claims remain unpaid, despite being sent in two years ago.
The MP says addressing such issues is critical to maintaining a healthy education system.
