MP calls for more resources and patrols following Moruga double-murder

Following a double-murder in Moruga which claimed the lives of a man and his 5-year-old daughter, calls are being made for more resources and patrols.

The demand comes from Moruga/Tableland MP Michelle Benjamin who says the area is neglected and overlooked by authorities, becoming a battleground for violent crime.

Around 9:45pm yesterday, gunmen opened fire on Enrico Guerra at his mini-mart in St Mary’s Village – he died at the scene and his daughter Anika later succumbed to injuries at hospital.

MP Benjamin says officials must come up with a comprehensive plan to restore peace and safety to the communities, adding that current strategies are inadequate.
