The refloating of the Gulfstream barge at Cove, Tobago has been completed, according to the Energy Ministry.
According to the Ministry, refloat operations started around 5:50pm yesterday and were completed by 11:54pm.
The vessel, which was responsible for an oil spill, is now about three nautical miles away from its original resting place and is afloat off the coast of Cove, secured and supported by tugs.
The Ministry says today, activities will focus on conducting an underwater survey to assess areas of the barge which were previously inaccessible and to remove any debris that would impact towing.
Once this is done, the barge will be cleared for a 33-hour long towing operation by two support tugs from Cove, Tobago to Port of Spain, Trinidad.
