Charge for driver accused of highway murder

A 27-year-old Maraval man has been charged with the murder of Keifer Wilson.

Wilson died after being struck with a car in Debe on the night of August 13th 2024.

The victim and a male companion were driving south along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway when another driver collided with their vehicle.

The TTPS says an argument ensued on the highway, during which time the driver of the other vehicle assaulted Wilson with a spanner.

Wilson and her male friend attempted to flee on foot, but the accused drove after them, ultimately running over Wilson.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was later apprehended by officers of the Highway Patrol and Emergency Response Patrol.

He is expected to appear virtually at the South Criminal High Court on Monday August 19th 2024.
