Crime was a main topic of discussion as the UNC started its pre-budget public consultations with a meeting in Arima.

According to the UNC, it was a successful launch to its series of at least 26 meetings planned ahead of the 2024 budget debate.

Other topics discussed on Wednesday night included education, sports, guidance and mentorship for the youth, rising cost of living, the government reducing pensions, unemployment and constitutional reform.

The next budget consultation will be held in Caroni East today.
