Da Silva: WI must soak up more pressure, put enough runs on the board

West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva says the team has put the first Test against England behind it, ahead of the second fixture starting on Thursday.

The regional team were beaten by an innings and 114 runs at Lord’s in three days, scoring just 121 and 136 in their two turns at the crease.

Da Silva says, “All of us are pretty disappointed after the first Test, so we’ve put that behind us, we’ve had our discussions and we’re looking forward to this second one in Nottingham. Putting in the work, doing everything we can, rebuilding and going hard forward into the next Test.”

He assures that discussions have taken place on areas for improvement, and notes, “Obviously the batting didn’t put their hands up. A few of us can stick our hands up and say we got a few soft dismissals. But moving into the next Test, I think that’s where the key is – either getting 20 wickets and obviously putting enough runs on the board for the bowlers to bowl at.”

The second Test bowls off at 6am T&T time on Thursday.
