National Security Ministery Fitzgerald Hinds is being urged to spend a few nights at the Princes Town Fire Station.

This invitation is being extended by Chairman of the Princes Town Regional Corporation Gowrie Roopnarine, who says Government “apparently does not seem to understand the dire need for an immediate resolution to the accommodation crisis in the district.”

Mr Roopnarine voiced support for officers at the station, who recently expressed concerns about crumbling infrastructure and a lack of resources.

The Chairman accused the Minister of allowing the situation to deteriorate to crisis levels, which has in turn left the community as risk due to the negative effect on emergency response times.

He is now calling on Government to “move expeditiously” to fund an acceptable alternate space to house fire officers within Princes Town.
