Tropical Storm Watch issued for parts of Texas, Mexico

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for parts of Texas and Mexico, as authorities continue to monitor a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Centre says the system is moving north-northwest, with a turn toward the west-northwest expected on Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Slow strengthening is possible, and the disturbance is forecast to become a tropical storm by Wednesday.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:

  • The Texas coast from Port O’Connor southward to the mouth of the Rio Grande
  • The northeastern coast of Mexico south of the mouth of the Rio Grande to Boca de Catan

The NHC says additional watches and warnings may be required tonight and on Tuesday.

This system poses no threat to T&T.
