A $100,000 dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of persons involved in T&T’s latest quadruple murder.
Four persons were killed on Sunday night in an incident that began with a shooting in Gonzales, Belmont and ended with a shooting at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
The reward was revealed during a media briefing today by National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, who says a lot is happening because citizens are turning a blind eye.
Mr Hinds says police believe Sunday’s incident is gang-related.
He adds that police statistics reveal that as much as 65% of all homicides are also linked to gangs.
Meanwhile, Mr Hinds gave statistics as it relates to incidents of multiple murders.
According to him, there were 53 double homicides in 2023.
So far in 2024, there have been 13 double murders, two triple homicides, and three quadruple murders, which includes Sunday’s incident.
2024 has also seen one quintuple homicide, which is the incident at Harpe Place on March 16th.
Mr Hinds admits that criminals have become brazen and have a disregard for the justice system, but insists they are working to do what they can.
With regard to the death penalty and its enforcement, he says he is in support of this country’s laws and reminds that the death penalty is part of that.
