The High Court has refused the Auditor General’s application for leave for judicial review of the appointment a committee to investigate the statement of the 2023 public accounts.
In May, a team chaired by retired High Court Justice David Harris was approved to probe an “understatement of revenue.”
Auditor General Jaiwantie Ramdass was seeking from the High Court, among other things, a declaration that government’s decision to set up the investigation was unfair and illegal.
The Finance Ministry says the Court found that there was no arguable case to quash and/or void the investigation.
