US President Joe Biden has outlined a new Israeli proposal to Hamas, saying “it’s time for this war to end”.

The three-stage roadmap involves a six-week ceasefire that would become permanent, and the rebuilding of Gaza with international assistance.

According to BBC News, Mr Biden is urging Hamas to “take the deal”, while also pressing Israeli political leaders to do the same.

However, he has acknowledged that keeping the deal on track would be difficult, as there are a number of “details to negotiate” to move from the first to the second phase.
