Imam Saffraz Ghany is looking to expand the well received Arabic literacy program for inmates.

Nine persons graduated as part of the 1st batch in December last year at the Port of Spain Prison, with about 10 more due to follow in a couple of weeks as part of Batch #2.

Imam Ghany told 103.1FM News that the initiative is the first of its kind at the Prison, with the graduating students receiving a certificate of completion and gifts that included a copy of the Holy Qur’an.

He says they are hoping to expand to other facilities.

Imam Ghany hosts the programme ‘Soul Inspirations’, which airs on 103.1FM at 5am on Fridays.
