A National Disaster Preparedness Exercise is taking place until 10am tomorrow, with agencies involved in a number of drills.

According to the ODPM, the principal locations being used are in the vicinity of Grand Bazaar, the Curepe Interchange, Santa Cruz and Penal.

Officials say they intend to keep traffic disruption to a minimum during this time and are urging the public to cooperate with municipal police which will be on site to assist with traffic management.

The drills are being conducted to strengthen the response and preparedness capabilities of national response agencies.

The ODPM adds that if there should be a real hazard during the drills, the public will be immediately notified.
