At least 16 people were killed in overnight shelling in Rafah, southern Gaza, according to local officials.
BBC News says that the Hamas-controlled health ministry is reporting 46 deaths in total over the past 24 hours, across Gaza.
This, it says, takes the death toll to over 36,000.
There are also reports that Israeli tanks seized control of a key roundabout in Rafah about 500m from the border with Egypt.
Meanwhile, Spain, Norway and Ireland this morning officially recognized a Palestinian State with Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez saying the move was necessary to establish stability in the region.
