WASA says supply issues to Williamsville, environs being addressed

Following a protest for water yesterday, WASA says it is working to address service issues to Williamsville and environs.

In a statement it says there have been recent challenges in maintaining a consistent pipe borne water supply to parts of South East Trinidad, including Ben Lomond, Ecclesville and Williamsville.

It says customers in these zones receive a supply from the Navet Water Treatment Plant which, due to the harsh dry season, has seen a drop in production – from its normal 19.8 million gallons per day to 14.9 million gallons per day.

In an effort to improve the service to the Ecclesville and Williamsville areas, WASA says it is currently installing one kilometre of 12” diameter pipelines, from Williamsville Junction to Ecclesville.

These works are expected to be completed in the next two weeks.

WASA adds that it has been providing a dedicated supplementary truck borne supply to mitigate the impact, with particular focus on elevated and extremities of the distribution system, which are most affected.
