ICJ to hear South Africa case over Israel/Rafah situation

The International Court of Justice is due to hold hearings to discuss a request by South Africa seeking additional emergency measures over Israel’s offensive on Rafah in Gaza.

Al Jazeera says there are more than one million displaced Palestinians sought shelter from Israel’s war in Rafah.

South Africa will present its public oral argument today, while Israel is scheduled to provide its views tomorrow.

South Africa says Israel just ignored the orders by the court and has actually escalated the situation in Rafah.

Al Jazeera adds that South Africa believes this is a decisive moment for the Palestinian people.
