Oropouche West MP Dave Tancoo is calling on Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan to immediately clear boulders strewn at the base of the new bridge on the Godineau River, at the entrance to the Gulf of Paria.
In a statement, he says the boulders become dislodged over time and are now dispersed throughout the river, over a hundred feet away from where they were originally placed.
He says they need to be cleared and re-inserted around the footing of the bridge, in order to preserve the integrity of the infrastructure in the long-term.
Mr Tancoo warns that failure to clear the boulders could lead to severe flooding to areas such as Woodland, Penal, Barrackpore, and Oropouche.
