Macklemore has released a new song called “Hind’s Hall” which criticizes the recent brutal suppression of pro-Palestinian student protests at US universities.
The song dropped on May 6th, with all proceeds to go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The lyrics criticize the brutal suppression of protesters and questions the idea that calls for divestment from war profiteering and protesting for peace are somehow threatening and antisemitic.
He also points to the destruction in Gaza and urges activists to continue their work until Palestine is free.
“Hind’s Hall” gets its name from a building at Columbia University that student activists occupied last week, which they renamed in remembrance of 6-year-old Hind Rajab who was killed by the Israeli military in January this year.
