From June 1st 2024, Digicel+ will increase the price of certain products and decrease the price of others.
In a message sent to customers, it says the changes are due to increased content costs from international suppliers and growing expenses associated with off-island internet traffic, primarily fuelled by the rising usage of Android TV boxes, Netflix, and other over-the-top services.
With regard to the specified price reductions, the company said “We recognized that we didn’t offer our customers affordable access to higher internet speeds. With these price changes we aim to address this.”
It adds that despite the change in cost for some packages, there will be no changes to subscriptions in terms of increased internet speeds or added content, except for a very small percentage of customers.
According to the company, there will be price increases for: Fibre 200, Modern Fibre 200, and Modern Fibre 200+.
Price reductions will be applied to: Fibre 350, Fibre 500, Modern Fibre 350, and Modern Fibre 500.
The adjustments were listed by Digicel+ as follows:
Customers have since taken to social media regarding the increases in particular, saying it was yet another hike by the company.
Others pointed out the it is the latest increase to hit their pockets, with the costs of other services and items also going up in recent months.
