Finance Minister Colm Imbert has responded to reports and speculation regarding new $100 bills due to be released by the Central Bank later this year.

In a post on Twitter, Mr Imbert said a recent news article has led to “uninformed commentary”.

He says, “…the Central Bank is simply introducing new $100 bills to improve the security features on the notes. Both the old and the new will be legal tender.”

According to the report, the new bills will be issued in December.
