2nd person dies following suspected firebombing incident in Couva

A second person has reportedly died of injuries sustained in a suspected firebombing incident in Exchange Village, Couva.

According to the T&T Express, 52-year-old Lester Foster died while at hospital overnight.

The incident yesterday morning at an HDC development also claimed the life of 25-year-old Tyrone Foster.

103.1FM News understands that a preliminary investigation has shown that this fire was not accidental.

Commenting on the two deaths was Couva South MP Rudy Indarsingh, who said the incident was “a harrowing indication of the extent to which crime and violence have grown in Couva.”

He also criticized Housing Minister Camille Robinson-Regis’ recent statements on security in HDC areas, saying it comes after more than nine years in Government

He also said, “Since this Government’s last promise to install fire escapes in HDC homes, we are yet to see full materialization of that necessary initiative.”
