Hurricane Beryl is still at category five according to the latest update by the National Hurricane Centre.

The NHC says the Hurricane Hunter aircraft is reporting little change in strength over the past few hours.

Weakening should begin later today, but Beryl is still expected to be near major hurricane intensity as it moves into the central Caribbean and passes near Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands on Thursday.

In addition to Jamaica’s Hurricane Warning, a Hurricane Watch in place for Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, Cayman Brac and the south coast of Haiti.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the south coast of the Dominican Republic.
