Man sentenced to death for 2011 Murder

A man accused of Murder was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging, when he appeared before Justice Kathy Ann Waterman- Latchoo,
at the judge-alone trial, held at the Port of Spain High Court yesterday, Friday 21st July 2023.

TRINITY LEWIS was charged with the Murder of a 25-year-old man, which occurred in December 2011, in Tunapuna.
Police records show that around 8 am on 1st December 2011, Anthony Mark Songui was seated on a culvert at Upper 1st Trace, Maingot Road,
Tunapuna, in company with his brother and two friends. Trinity Lewis, also known as ‘Prack’ approached the men, pulled out a firearm, pointed it at
the head of Anthony Mark Songui and fired several shots at him. Songui then slumped over the culvert and became lifeless. Lewis then ran in the
forest at Upper 1st Trace.

Trinity Lewis was subsequently arrested in February 2013, at a roti shop in Port of Spain, after hiding in the forest in the area of Maingot Road,
Tunapuna. He was charged with Murder and was committed to stand trial in 2014. The judge-alone trial commenced in May 2023, and concluded
yesterday, with a guilty verdict
