Another tropical wave to affect T&T early on Tuesday

Another tropical wave is expected to affect both islands from midnight, with strong winds expected.

The Met Service says the associated weather is expected to begin across Tobago from near midnight and gradually spread to Trinidad by early morning.

It says analysis indicates that a strong wind surge is possible between north Trinidad and Barbados.

As such, a High Winds Alert – Yellow Level, will begin from 10PM and last until midday tomorrow.

With the high potential for wind gusts of 55 km and over, the strong winds may be brief but are capable of displacing unsecured roofs, loose outdoor objects and can even topple trees and weak structures.

Sea conditions are expected to be additionally agitated with waves reaching above 2.5 m in open waters and choppy in sheltered areas.

Meanwhile, as the axis of the tropical wave passes, there is a medium to high chance for isolated thunderstorm activity to develop.

These conditions are expected to settle by late tomorrow morning.

Moving on to Wednesday, the Met Service says lingering instability can produce mixed conditions, mainly during the morning, with a medium chance for an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm.

And another Tropical Wave is expected to reach T&T by Saturday.
