Moderate/heavy showers, isolated thunderstorms and accompanying gusty winds are in the Met Service’s initial outlook for mid-week.

This comes as it monitors an area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean, AL96, which is approaching the Caribbean.

The Met Service says the system poses no direct threat to T&T but notes that rain and gusty winds are in the forecast.

AL96 is producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity and has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical depression over 48 hours and 30% over the seven days.

The Met Service says it will issue another update on this system at 8pm today, or earlier if warranted.
