Guyana pledges US$150,000 to UN Agency for Palestine Refugees

Guyana’s government has pledged US$150,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

According to reports from Guyana, the money is in support of Palestinians displaced and affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says the contribution to UNRWA aligns with its appeals for a more robust international response to the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and the protection of civilians impacted by the ongoing conflict.

It adds that, as an elected member of the United Nations Security Council, it supports a ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Guyana is also a member of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
