The NWRHA is denying allegations of tampering with investigations into the deaths of babies at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

In a media release, it dismissed a claim in a news report that the conduct of an internal investigation is an attempt to interfere with evidence and sanitize records.

It said its internal probe is standard practice and it is cooperating with the PAHO team which is in T&T for an independent investigation.

The NWRHA added that a sanitisation of work areas in its laboratory on April 23rd is also standard procedure and does not equate to tampering of evidence.

Also it noted that the replacement of a centrifuge, which is expected to be completed by tomorrow, is a process that started since September 2023, when a new piece of equipment was purchased.

The Authority said this is part of standard procedure to maintain equipment and is not part of a cover-up.
