West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor put in a Player of the Match performance but her Tornadoes Women lost to Barmy Army in the FairBreak Invitation T20 Tournament in the UAE.
Taylor, who made 78 not out from 54 balls, teamed up for an unbroken 145-run partnership with South Africa’s Sune Luus who made 66 from 58 balls.
Their third-wicket stand took Tornadoes to 150/2 in 20 overs.
However, Taylor’s West Indian counterpart Deandra Dottin made 56 not out from 40 balls opening the batting for Barmy Army before Heather Knight slammed 20 from just nine balls.
They got to 153/2 in just 15.5 overs, securing victory by eight wickets.
The six-team FairBreak tournament has a number of West Indian women involved: Shamilia Connell and Hayley Matthew (Warriors), Taylor (Tornadoes), Britney Cooper (Falcons), Shemaine Campbell and Deandra Dottin (Barmy Army).
After nine matches, Falcons are top of the table with nine points – the tournament culminates with semis and a final after 15 group games.
